Crystal Gallery Co-Hosts Coca-Cola 'Art Of Harmony'

On Tuesday, April 18 at 7:30 p.m. Crystal Window & Door Systems and Crystal Foundation Art Gallery will launch the New York/New Jersey area exhibit of Coca-Cola Presents "Art of Harmony: An Art Competition".
To select the winners of this teenage national competition, Coca-Cola convened a panel of judges comprised of local artists; community, business and civic leaders; art educators; media personalities, and Coca-Cola representatives. The winning art, selected from hundreds of entries, were judged on originality and creativity, composition and design and appropriateness to the competition's theme, "Living in Harmony". Twelve finalists were chosen to participate in the "Art of Harmony Tour".
New York City Councilmember Tony Avella (D-Bayside) has been one of the judges of the competition for several years and recommended the Crystal Foundation Art Gallery as the local venue for the winners' exhibit.
The winners of the Art of Harmony Art Competition:: 1st Place, Keshna Thermitus, 12th Grade, Arts H.S., Newark, New Jersey; 2nd Place, Dina Ducati, 12th Grade; H. S. Frank Carey H.S., Franklin Square, New York, and 3rd Place, Daniel Martins, 11th Grade, Arts H.S., Newark, all are 17-years-old.
Other New York high school students to gain an honorable mention were: Talia Levitt, 11th Grade, age 16, Edward R.
Murrow H.S. and Danielle Poggi, 12th Grade, age 17, Bishop Kearney High School, Brooklyn; Kevin Carroll, 12th Grade, age 18, Bronxville H.S., Bronxville; Charlene Schneider, 11th Grade, age 17, Lindenhurst H.S., Lindenhurst; Sohee Koo, 12th Grade, age 19, Tottenville H.S. and Diane Yu, 12th Grade, age 17, Susan Wagner H.S., Staten Island, and Laura Yue Bai, 12th Grade, age 17, Sachem East H.S., Holtsville. And from New Jersey Oleksandra Barysheva, 9th Grade, age 15, Matawan Regional H.S., Matawan, and Shaquan Brown, 12th Grade, age 17, Rosa Parks High School, Paterson.
The opening reception will be held on April 18, at 6 p.m. at the Crystal Foundation Art Gallery, 2nd Floor, 31-10 Whitestone Expressway., in Flushing's College Point Corporate Park. The exhibit will be on display from April 18 to May 5. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call 718-961-7300.
