City Councilmember Peter Vallone Jr. introduced New York City Police Department Deputy Chief Thomas Chan of Patrol Borough Queens North, Chief of Detectives Louis Croce, former 114th Police Precinct Commanding Officer Patrick Timlin and present 114th Precinct Commanding Officer Deputy Inspector Brian McCarthy at the March meeting of the Astoria Civic Association last Tuesday, March 7 at Riccardo's by the Bridge in Astoria. "They gave us a great update on crime," former City Council Speaker Peter Vallone Sr. said of the meeting. In addition to his verbal report, McCarthy gave a 20-minute slide presentation on crime in the precinct and Vallone Jr., chair of the council Public Safety Committee, reported on public safety in Astoria and throughout the city. "We were all very pleased with the public safety report," Vallone Sr. said.
Also on the agenda was the election of a new slate of officers. Eartha Washington succeed Joan DiMarco as president, and Patricia Babor, Antonio Meloni, Paul Halvatsis and Ted Caliendo were elected vice presidents; Paul Vallone was elected treasurer, Rose Ann Alafogiannis was elected recording secretary, Brenda Andrle corresponding secretary and John Pellitteri, sergeantat arms.
Elected to the association board of trustees were Gus Antonopoulos, Edward Babor, Dr. Dino Belletti, Lucille DiBiase, John Bretone Jr., Dr. Nicholas Camarinos, Michael Camarinos, Rose Cavagnolo, Maria L. Delgado, George Donato, Daniel Duran, Luigi Farina, Dr. Arthur Gualtieri, Deidre Humen, Karianne Humen, Jerry Kril, Larissa Kril, Ann Marrero, George Napolitano, Mary O'Hara, Peter Ortiz, Sebastian Parisi, George Perno, George J. Perno, Linda Perno, Anthony Petrocelli, Anthony L. Petrocelli, Rose Marie Poveromo, Gus Prentzas, Dr. Ira Rothfield, Charles K. Schwarz, John Spellman, Dr. William J. Schwartz and Elizabeth McLaughlin-Vasiliadis. Officers and trustees serve two-year terms.
