WEPRIN BACK

WEPRIN BACK FROM ISRAEL: Returning to the United States last Wednesday from a three-day inspection tour of war-torn Israel, Councilmember David Weprin (D-Hollis) declared, "America has no greater friend than the State of Israel" and said

he was proud to offer his support for the beleaguered Israeli's in their time of need."

Weprin, who visited numerous cities, including those on the Lebanese border with Assemblymember Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn), stated: "After 9/11, New Yorkers will never forget what it is like to be the victim of senseless, cowardly terrorist attacks. If anyone can empathize with the horrors being inflicted upon Israel, it is New Yorkers, and that is why it is so important that we stand with them, behind them and among them."

On their mission, Weprin and Hikind made a privately funded $25,000 presentation to Zaka, the Israeli rescue and recovery organization, to purchase 50 sets of helmets and bulletproof vests for its members.
