2 New Starbucks Beverages Among Summer Surprises

Starbucks (NASDAQ: SBUX) peeled back the first flavors of summer on May 16, turning to the tropics for inspiration. Baristas across the country will stamp customers' beverage passports with an exotic combination of Latin American flavors and premium coffee. Starbucks' two new taste sensations to beat the heat are Banana Coconut Frappuccino blended coffee and Bananas & Crme Frappuccino blended crme.

"Since Starbucks introduced the categorytransforming Frappuccino blended beverage in 1995, these indulgent cold beverages have become an annual announcement to our customers that summer is here.or just around the corner," Category Management Senior Vice President Michelle Gass said. "Bananas are the most popular fruit in the world, and the authentic

The Banana Coconut Frappuccino blended coffee starts with real banana puree and the finest Latin American coffees, which are blended with premium coconut syrup, milk and ice. Each Banana Coconut Frappuccino drink can then be topped with whipped cream and real toasted coconut flakes for an authentic taste of the tropics.

For the banana purist, Starbucks Bananas & Crme Frappuccino blended crme is a vibrant blend of real banana puree, milk and ice. Topped with real whipped cream, the Bananas & Crme Frappuccino blended crme is the perfect cool and creamy summer treat.

Both Banana Frappuccino beverages will be available through August 30, 2006.

Starbucks Goes Bananas

To celebrate the season with the spirit of Carnival, Starbucks will hand out more than 90,000 fresh bananas to customers in more than 21 cities across the country during the kick-off of the campaign. That many bananas could line Rio de Janeiro's Sambadromo 22 times end-to-end or, if piled tip-to-tip, could reach from the ground to the top of the Empire State Building 36 times.

Bunches Of Blenders Bike Across U.S.

It's not a bird, or a plane, or a school of Samba. It's a blender bike! Throughout the summer months, Starbucks will peddle a virtual marathon across the country with a brigade of stationary bikes that when ridden, power an attached blender. Spin classes have nothing on this team of baristas. They'll be "riding in" to various events and community gatherings around the United States, so keep your eyes peeled and don't be afraid to flag down a cool Frappuccino drink. "Starbucks is always looking for ways to surprise and delight our customers, and what better way than to give traditional beverage sampling a new 'spin'-literally," Brad Stevens, vice president of Marketing, said. "Not only are these bikes engaging and entertaining, they really do blend up a tasty drink."

Coffee On the Terrazza?

New for this summer, the Starbucks Terrazza Blend is a coffee that has been specially blended and roasted to enjoy on ice. Its soft, toasty roast accentuates its rich flavors while its citrus note makes it perfectly refreshing on ice. Starbucks' Terrazza Blend provides the perfect excuse to spend warm summer afternoons with friends on your terraza.
