Crowley, Israeli Official Meet

At a meeting in Washington between Congressmember Joseph Crowley (D-Queens-The Bronx) and Israeli Ambassador and Consul General Arye Mekel, the pair discussed the latest events in the Middle East, including the recent Palestinian elections. Mekel briefed Crowley on the ramifications of the Hamas being elected as the governing force of the Palestinian people.

Crowley and the Israeli official both also condemned the continuing anti-Semitic statements and Holocaust denial made by the president of Iran.

"I will continue to work with my colleagues in Congress to make sure the safety of Israel remains a top priority," Crowley said at the end of the meeting.
