Food At Soho Café & Grill Is Healthy, Fresh, Fast And Tasty

If it’s fresh, healthy and delicious, Soho Café & Grill has it—and you can have it fast. Soho Café & Grill caters to busy people on the go who don’t want to sacrifice good nutrition for convenience. Owners Alex Poulos and Peter Garidis have worked tirelessly for the last four years to offer a wide variety of fresh and healthy wraps, hot, pressed sandwiches, fresh tossed salads, hot soups and entrees, fruit and vegetable juices, smoothies, yogurt parfaits and much more. All these healthy meals are served in a contemporary café setting with comfortable tables and booths, or can be taken out or delivered free of charge. Poulos and Garidis want their customers to enjoy, eat well and stay healthy and diners can do all three at Soho Café & Grill.

Soho Café & Grill is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to midnight for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Start your day off with a healthy breakfast, including farm fresh eggs and omelettes filled with veggies, meat or cheese. Egg white omelettes, which can be wrapped in whole-wheat tortillas, are great on the go. Enjoy banana-nut pancakes made with granola, or cinnamon French toast ($3.95). A very popular breakfast item is the yogurt parfait, which layers low fat yogurt with fresh fruit and granola, all ready to go in a plastic cup. Soho is located near the entrance to the Ditmars Boulevard N or W train stop, making it a convenient place to stop in on the way to or from work.

The Dining Room at Soho Café & Grill The Dining Room at Soho Café & Grill I tried a hot, pressed panini called Paisan, tender grilled chicken, spinach leaves, sun-dried tomatoes and fresh mozzarella on thick, toasted ciabatta bread. This sandwich was generously sized and a

real bargain at just $6.20. For $1.50 more, you can add steak I fries or waffle cut fries to the order. The New Yorker combines tender roast beef, Swiss cheese and caramelized red onions on hot pressed semolina bread. The Tuscan offers grilled seasonal vegetables on warm focaccia. Try some of the wraps that Soho Café & Grill is famous for. Grilled chicken Caesar with romaine lettuce, Romano cheese in a spinach tortilla is an excellent choice. New on the menu are the California shrimp wrap and the Florida fish wrap, crisp grouper tenders with baby spinach, red onion and roasted red peppers ($5.95). Turkey and roast beef lay the foundations for other wraps, while grilled vegetable wraps and bean wraps are the basis for other such sandwiches. In addition, all wraps and gourmet sandwiches come with a side order of home-style black bean salad or tabouli, making a complete meal for under $7.

Nobody does salad better than Soho Café & Grill. Diners choose among greens such as romaine lettuce, spinach or mixed greens displayed behind the clean glass cases, then request any toppings they like. Carrots, cucumbers, alfalfa sprouts, beans, mushrooms, avocado, feta cheese, teriyaki chicken, edamame (soy beans) and raisins are just some of the options. A helpful staff member tosses your salad with your choice of dressing right before your eyes, insuring that your salad is fresh and sanitary, unlike many open salad bars. Many of the dressings available are fat free or use extra virgin olive oil. Salads start at just $2.95 for a small serving and $3.95 for large. The Soho Signature salad is a meal in itself, with mixed greens, apples, craisins, real bacon bits, edamame and a delicious mandarin ginger dressing.

The juice machine whirs as patrons chose vegetables such as carrots, spinach and apples to be loaded into the hopper. Out comes a vibrant juice, loaded with vitamins and minerals, to maintain good health. I really enjoyed a carrot, celery and apple juice drink flavored with fresh ginger. Plenty of yogurt smoothie options make a healthy, quick lunch or snack.

Hot entrees such as pasta with chicken, veggies or pesto, fish fillet, Philly cheese steak, falafel and chicken breast platters are also on the Soho Café & Grill menu. One taste and you’ll be hooked on Soho mini burgers, just $5.95 for four delectable burgers. Big burgers with favorite toppings are also available.

The menu states, “Soho Café & Grill was designed as a tribute for the busy individual.
