KIDSCLASSICS II Opens With ‘Hear The Organ’ Colden Center and Goliard Concerts have once again teamed up to co-present KIDSCLASSICS II, the innovative series designed to stimulate youngsters’ interest in classical music. “Hear the Organ” which opens the series on January 15 at 3 p.m. in the intimate and acoustically perfect setting of the LeFrak Concert Hall, includes the following selections: “Toccata in D Minor” by J.S. Bach, “Fantasy on Nursery Tunes” by Robert Elmore and Leonard Bernstein’s “Simple Song.” At Hear the Organ, host Jim Blanton and guest artists offer children and their families the rare opportunity to experience the impressive sound of LeFrak’s grand 18th century style organ of nearly 2,400 pipes. Come early so the kids can create their own instruments in the Concert Hall’s sunny atrium. After the performance, they can meet the artists. As a take-home bonus, young patrons receive the ClassicTalk Program Guide filled with games, puzzles and activities that enhance and reinforce their concert experience. “Follow the Beat”, “Join the Chorale” and “Meet the Orchestra” round out the series, which has been funded by the Kupferberg Foundation and in part by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs. For years, caring parents have been bringing their children to the acclaimed KIDSCLASSICS Series and on departing delivering such accolades as: “The series was informative and yet age-appropriate for the children”, “There was the right mix of narration and music” and “Mr. Blanton’s enthusiasm shone through!”. Encourage your child’s natural love of music on Sunday afternoon, January 15 with Hear the Organ at Colden Center—where kids love KIDSCLASSICS II! (Recommended for children ages 5-10.) Tickets for “Hear The Organ” are still available at $12. KIDSCLASSICS II Series subscriptions of four performances are available at $40. Orders may be placed by phone at 718-793-8080 or at the Colden Center Box Office.
