St. Jacobus Holds Christmas Services, Luncheon
St. Jacobus Lutheran Church in Woodside welcomes all persons to their Christmas worship services, to be held at 72-01 43rd Ave., just off Woodside Avenue across from P.S. 12, on December 24 and 25. A traditional service of lessons and carols with Holy Communion will be held Christmas Eve at 7:30 p.m., and a special “Christ-Mass” with storytelling for children will take place on Christmas Day (a Sunday) at 10 a.m. The St. Jacobus congregation would particularly like to welcome those who might otherwise be eating alone on Christmas Day to come to a luncheon at the church after worship. The lunch, which will begin at 11:30 a.m., is pot-luck if you can, but all are welcome to come share the feast! St. Jacobus Lutheran Church is located in the vibrant multicultural neighborhood of Woodside Queens, just on the border of Elmhurst and Jackson Heights. Founded in 1867, St. Jacobus now embraces people from over 10 countries of origin and features worship that draws on rich traditions from around the world. Pastor Cathy Ellen Rosenholtz says, “Come find family with us at Christmas.” For more information, call Rosenholtz at the church office, 718-424-2307.
