Astoria Resident Says: Who Wants To Produce A Play With Winnings From A TV Show

Kathleen Warnock, an Astoria resident, appeared on “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” which helped her to fund her new play “Grieving for Genevieve” opening at the Jewel Box Theater, 312 W. 36th St., 4th Floor, Manhattan at the Sixth Annual Midtown International Theater Festival

The play, which runs July 22, 23, 28, 31, Aug. 5, 6, is produced by En Avant Playwrights of which Warnock is a founding member.

Also a member playwright of TOSOS2 Theater where a staged reading of Warnock’s play “The Audience” was performed, other plays to her credit are “The Space Between Heartbeats,” HomoGenius 2002, Short & Girlie, London, 2004; “I’m Gonna Run Away,” winner, Audience Favorite, Turnip Theater Festival, New York, and “To the Top,” winner, South Carolina Playwrights Festival, Trustus Theater. “Rocks in the Bed” and “Around the Horn are published in anthologies. Her plays have been performed in Massachusetts, Florida, North Carolina, District of Columbia and Georgia. A winner of the John Golden Award at Hunter College and member of the Dramatists Guild, “Grieving for Genevieve” is being paid for with her winnings from the television show “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire”.
