Seniors Attend Forums On Medicare Part D
More than 150 Western Queens seniors braved cold and snow last week to attend three public forums on the complicated new Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Program, which goes into effect January 1. The forums, hosted by state Senator John Sabini (second from r.), were conducted by StateWide Senior Action Council Medicare/EPIC Project Director Amy Button (standing) and Marlene Ruiz Batta of the New York state EPIC prescription drug program (second from l.). Also shown is Assemblymember Jose Peralta (far r.). The forum was held at Community United Methodist Church, Jackson Heights on December 9. A Spanish-language forum was held later that day at the Corona Senior Center, and another English language forum was held the following day at the First Baptist Church in East Elmhurst.
