New Kids At Queens Zoo

Queens Zoo visitors are sure to be delighted by Simon and Garfunkel, two Nubian goat kids. The two young goats—referred to as kids—are only four months old. They reside in the Zoo's Domestic Animal area. With their long, floppy ears and sweet faces, the goats won't have any problem building a strong fan base.

Zoo staff named the goats Simon and Garfunkel because of the goats' habit of bleating in harmony and in recognition of their namesakes' connection to Queens--Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel met at a young age while both were living in Queens.

Nubian goats are a domestic breed of goat, originally from Egypt but now found throughout the world. The Queens Zoo duo will greet fans every day during Zoo hours.

Admission to the Queens Zoo is $5 for adults, $1.25 for seniors 65 and older, $1 for children 3-12, free for children under 3. Zoo hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, and 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekends, April through October, and 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily, November through April. The Queens Zoo is located at 53-51 111th St. in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. For more information, call 718-271-1500 or visit www.queenszoo.com.
