St. John’s Prep Honors Sports Announcer


Bob Sheppard, St. John’s Prep–Lewis Avenue Alumnus (Class of 1928) will be honored for his long career as “Voice of the Yankees” November 22.Bob Sheppard, St. John’s Prep–Lewis Avenue Alumnus (Class of 1928) will be honored for his long career as “Voice of the Yankees” November 22.

The St. John’s Prep-Lewis Avenue alumni will honor Bob Sheppard, the legendary "Voice of Yankee Stadium" at their annual reunion to be held on Saturday, November 22 at St. John’s Preparatory School in Astoria.

Sheppard, a member of the class of 1928, began his career as a speech teacher and has worked as the public address announcer at Yankee Stadium for over 50 years. Sportscaster, Sal Marciano, a member of the class of 1958 will also speak during the evening. In addition, the alumni committee plans to recognize members of anniversary classes 1928, 1933, 1938, 1943, 1948, 1953, 1958, 1963 and 1968 who are in attendance.
