Breakfast, Lunch, And Dinner Served New York Style

Even on a slushy, post-blizzard night on Queens Boulevard, New York Style Eats was teeming with patrons while the phone rang off the hook with take-out orders. The reason? New York Style Eats serves good food, fast. Owner Chris Poubouridis works day and night to continue to offer hearty meals with plentiful portions at affordable prices. And everything is homemade.

The clean and comfortable dining room features a mural of local folks on one wall and homey decorations on the other which creates a pleasant atmosphere in which to eat. There are plenty of tables to accommodate even a large group of family or friends. Poubouridis is constantly adding new items to the menu, which includes an array of fresh salads, wraps, deluxe burgers, pasta sauté dishes and of course, their famous, marinated chicken breast.

New York Style Eats is open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., later on weekends, to offer inexpensive, nutritious meals nearly any time of day. In the winter months, five varieties of soup are available each day, including chicken tortilla soup, Italian wedding soup with spinach, pastina and meatballs, and cream of chicken. The lobster bisque is legendary, according to many. For lunch or dinner, specially marinated chicken breast can be ordered on a bun or a platter and topped with avocado and cheese, or served barbecue style, to name a few variants,

Try one of their freshly prepared wraps ($5.75), such as the chicken fajita, stuffed with tender strips of grilled chicken, roasted peppers, onions and salsa on a flour tortilla. Chicken pesto is also delicious, rolled up with fresh mozzarella, sun-dried tomatoes and fragrant pesto. The teriyaki wrap includes broccoli, arugula and rice. The wraps go very well with an order of delicious waffle fries or healthful sweet potato fries.

New York Style Eats grills eight-ounce burgers with all favorite toppings. My favorite is the Eats Superburger, with fried onions, mushrooms, bacon and Swiss cheese. The Mexican burger is topped with jalapeno peppers and cheddar cheese with chili. Philly cheese steak sandwiches require two hands to eat. Fried chicken is honey-dipped and comes with fries and slaw. A thick Reuben sandwich, layered with pastrami, sauerkraut and melted Swiss, makes a very hearty meal.

Tasty tuna melts and triple decker sandwiches are always popular, whether they're filled with fresh chicken salad, turkey, bacon, lettuce and tomato or egg salad. In addition, Eats souvlaki or chicken souvlaki can be ordered as a sandwich or on a platter, to stay or to go. Delivery men work tirelessly to get food to most areas within 15 minutes. "Eats" will deliver nearly everywhere.

Appetizers include spicy Buffalo chicken wings, homemade spinach pie or chicken or shrimp quesadillas. The quesadilla is very popular. Unlike most served elsewhere, the flour tortilla is stuffed with mesquite chicken then rolled like a cigar and fried in pure vegetable oil, making it easy to eat.

Each night, dinner specials are offered. Selections include seafood alla diabovo, a mix of calamari and mussels in spicy, tomato garlic sauce. Chicken alla Romana is sautéed with eggplant and artichoke hearts in lemon wine sauce over pasta ($9.95). A fried shrimp and filet platter comes with potato and vegetable for just $10.95. Pasta lovers can choose among six pasta entrees like penne alla vodka and cheese ravioli that cost only $6.50 and come with garlic bread. The chef’s special that night was penne balsamico with artichokes, mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes.

If you can't decide, Eats also has succulent rotisserie chicken every day, served with vegetable and potato or rice at a really economical price. Take one home with you on your way from work.

For dessert, try raspberry cheesecake, chocolate thunder cake or apple pie a la mode. Who could refuse brownies a la mode or an old-fashioned banana split? New York Style Eats is a great place to bring the kids to. They'll love the foot-long hot dogs and French fries.

New York Eats has also expanded its catering for business and personal affairs. Birthdays, showers and corporate functions are more memorable and hassle free when the work is done for you.

As Chris says, "It's not fast food—just good food fast!" Visit soon, just downstairs from the 7 train (46th Street Station) or call in your order for free, fast delivery.
