Caterer Of The Week

Riccardo's Caters In Grand Style
By Teresa Barile

Of The Week

For over 50 years, Riccardo's on 24th Avenue in Astoria has been catering to generations of families, businesses and organizations alike. Founded by Riccardo Corbisiero as a restaurant and catering hall, the emphasis has always been on serving quality food, providing individualized service and hospitality. Today, Riccardo's tradition is carried out by grandson, Tony Corbisiero, who offers the same dedication to service in each affair he caters. The lobby, dining halls and bridal suite are always updated and renovated to make Riccardo's the number one choice in catered affairs.

Just last week, I had the pleasure of attending a cocktail party at Riccardo's, and was impressed by the attention to detail given to all the guests.

Five well-appointed banquet rooms can accommodate any number of parties from 10 to 600. Festive red, white and blue decorations complimented the upcoming Fourth of July holiday and there is convenient valet parking just across the street.

At the party I attended, a sumptuous buffet was arranged and replenished all evening, as throngs of hungry guests devoured dishes such as chicken francese, lasagna, pepper steak, barbecued spare ribs and roast beef. The salads, rice and condiments were great side dishes to the hot entrees. Guests visited the buffet over and over again, and the wait staff quickly whisked away their place settings while they enjoyed a dance or two. The open bar was fully stocked which made it easy to enjoy a favorite cocktail, wine or beer.

Riccardo's has earned a reputation for professionally run weddings, anniversaries, engagements and many political functions. In fact, reservations are being accepted for weddings and banquets in 2003 and beyond.

The professional and courteous staff at Riccardo's wants to make parties memorable, and is equipped to handle all the details. Besides arranging the menu, they can assist in hiring musicians or DJs., floral bouquets, photographers and entertainment. Package plans are offered at very affordable prices, or customize the menu to please each and every guest. Choose a sit-down dinner, or a smorgasbord with dozens of tempting dishes. Hors d'oeuvres can be passed around on silver trays or guests can help themselves to a buffet table. Whatever the plan, Riccardo's makes parties special.

Some upcoming events at Riccardo's which might be of great interest:

Reservations are now being accepted for a murderously funny evening on October 4, 2002, when "The Killing Kompany" performs an interactive dinner/murder-mystery. Having attended this performance last year, I can assure you that it is a fun time for all. Call your friends and family and reserve a table. The low price of $40 per person includes a full cocktail hour, 3-course dinner, dessert and coffee. There is a cash bar with reasonably priced cocktails, beer and wine.

Also coming up in the winter is "Festa Italiano" at Riccardo's. This Tony Campagna production is a tradition with many Italian-Americans. The all-inclusive Italian festival is only $40 per person and includes a huge Italian buffet with a variety of favorite dishes, Italian music and comedy. Reserve now and see why Festa Italiano continues each year.

An Opera Night is also being planned for the fall, since it was a huge success last year. Check the Gazette for announcements regarding this wonderful evening of fine opera, culture and delicious food.

An affair at Riccardo's is one to remember. Don't forget that small businesses can make Christmas/Holiday party reservations now for their employees. For the low price of $35 per person everyone wins when small groups combine to enjoy a buffet dinner, DJ., open bar and Viennese table.

Life is for celebrating, so celebrate special occasions at Riccardo's. Call Tony Corbisiero to arrange a personal tour.
