Delightful Vistas From Every Seat At Cavo Outdoor Gardens
By Kellyann Tobin
and Tony Barsamian

The gardens offer a unique escape from city life and the sleek bar offers the perfect setting for the libation of choice.

On April 15, 1999, Tommy Demoras, Nicholas Sakatis, Dino Philippou, Steve Tallides and Lorenzo Cerullo joined forces and opened Cavo. Cavo was a 1,500 square-foot cafe and lounge which offered a Manhattanesque setting in the convenience of Astoria. On Sunday, May 6, 2001, Cavo’s gardens came into existence. The gardens offer a unique escape from city life. With the opening of this beautiful outdoor seating area, Cavo has succeeded in its attempt to bring a touch of Greece to Astoria. With an additional 4,000 square feet, Cavo can comfortably seat an additional 450 adults in a breathtaking outdoor dining area.

Designed with elegant simplicity, the garden holds beige tables beautifully highlighted by pristine white candles. The lovely setting offers a romantic accompaniment to the fine cuisine that Cavo offers for dining pleasure.

With an extensive menu that heavily relies on Mediteranian appetizer fare, Cavo offers something to please just about anyone’s taste buds. The grilled octopus is absolutely divine. This seafood delight is succulently prepared with a light marinade that amplifies the unique flavor of the dish. Another seafood selection, the mussels saganaki, is a delicious combination of delicate mussels with tasty deep fried cheese. This dish is a deliciously sinful delight for anyone who likes fine cuisine. Chicken souvlaki, always a favorite, is tender and juicy. With chunks of white meat chicken, the entree is certainly a healthful addition to one’s menu. A beautiful setting with wonderful food—what more can one ask for?

Cavo is open from Noon to 4 a.m. with the kitchen active until 2 a.m. Cavo has a lot to offer Astoria night life. Being a sleek combination of lounge and restaurant, it is the perfect location for a night of great fun and fabulous food. For more of a family affair, Cavo offers a fabulous brunch from Noon until 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday that is suitable for both young and old to enjoy. It is definitely a hot spot that everyone will savor. Cavo is located at 42-18 31st Ave in Astoria. Make sure that you stop by for a visit.
