Flag To VFW Post

On June 16 following the Sunnyside Flag Day parade Congressmember Joseph Crowley (NY) presented Ray Murray, Commander of the John V. Daniels Jr. VFW Post 2813, with an American flag that had been flown over the U.S. Capitol. The flag was raised over the post and Crowley acknowledged the post for its work for the community and members. He praised Regis Quirin, a Post member, for his efforts lobbying the state Legislature to attain an increase in the Blinded Veterans Annuity. Crowley is working on legislation that would prevent blinded veterans from being monetarily penalized by having this annuity deducted from their VA disability pension.
