First Central Opens Astoria Branch

First Central Savings Bank celebrated Independence Day two days early, with the grand opening of their newest branch on July 2. The branch is located in the former Long Island Savings Bank Building at 35-01 30th Ave., Astoria, which was extensively restored and renovated in preparation for its new occupant by First Central Chief Executive Officer and Board Chairman Joseph Pistilli. "I'm very proud to have been the one to return local banking to this architecturally significant structure," Pistilli said. Some of the building's exceptional architectural details are shown.

The new bank's senior management and staff were on hand to meet and greet bank customers and friends, and Pistilli used the occasion to emphasize the personal touch that First Central brings to area banking business. "For example, anyone in the community interested in discussing a possible mortgage can come in and speak face to face with one of our mortgage specialists, rather than deal impersonally with just a voice on the telephone," he declared.

The First Central Savings Bank main office is located at 19-19 Francis Lewis Blvd., Whitestone.
