Adequate Flu Vaccine Planned For This Fall
     Mindful of the disturbing situation last fall when sufficient supplies of flu vaccine were not available, placing the very young and very old at risk, a government agency has recommended that the federal Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) take steps to ensure that high-risk populations be given priority this coming fall in getting flu vaccinations.

Regal Heights Resident Marks 105th
     Regal Heights resident Ann Aiken will celebrate her 105th birthday on June 8. Aiken was born the second of nine children in a house where the New York City Port Authority Bus Terminal stands today. For many years she lived on West 87 Street, Manhattan, and eventually moved to Forest Hills in Queens. She never married. She worked as a sales clerk in a clothing store for 34 years and designed and sewed bed jackets for stores and coats for her family during the Depression. Besides sewing, Aiken enjoyed dancing and traveled into Manhattan to the B. Altman Department Store until age 90. Aiken also enjoyed her gin martini every other evening with dinner.
