“I like to keep my mind and body active, going to the gym, teaching Irish Set Dancing, volunteering as an ombudsman at a local nursing home and at the Latin American Immigration Center..”

This week’s question: What do you enjoy doing in retirement?
Arthur Ross
“I like to stay up late and watch old movies. I used to be a truck driver, like my father, with Sunshine Bakers in Long Island City. I would start work at 5 a.m. Now I enjoy walking and set my own schedule.”

“”I enjoy walking in the neighborhood and keeping active. Sharing conversation with friends and being active in my local church are very satisfying. It’s good to be caring about, and with, others.”

“”I like to go shopping with my wife and enjoy the community that continues to be our special love. Visiting in nursing and retirement homes with long-time friends is important for us and our church.”
| Martin Shannon
“Walking is a real delight for me. Also, radio and watching programs on television. I particularly enjoy the mystery programs on Channel 13—they are excellent and keep you glued to them. Added interests are watching the Mets and Yankees, regularly.”

“Now that I’m retired I can spend more time with the community Halloween parade. I have more time to be with my community friends. At my church I’m more active with ushering and other activities.”
