Crowley Charges FDA Commissioners Have Ties To Drug Industry

     Fighting against a drug industry campaign that is trying to discredit his drug reimportation bill, Congressmember Joseph Crowley last week charged that seven of 11 Food and Drug Administration commissioners who oppose his bill "have strong financial ties to the pharmaceutical and medical equipment industry."

Street Named For Activist
     A section of Woodside Avenue between 56th and 57th Streets was renamed Edward Fowley Way in honor of the late civic activist last Saturday. Gathered to celebrate were (l. to r.): Congressmember Joseph Crowley, members of the Fowley family, City Councilmember Walter McCaffrey and former Congressmember and present Queens Democratic Leader Thomas Manton.
