Woodhaven

Zip Code 11416

Community Board 9

The area like its surrounding environs was at one time inhabited by the Dutch and the English.

In 1835 John R. Pitkin laid out the area that became known as Woodville then later Woodhaven.

It was however not a largely successful community until French immigrants Florian Grosjean and Charles Lalance built a factory in the area.

The Union Race Course that was located here in the early 19th century was known country-wide.
