Maspeth Zip Code 11378 Community Board 5 The name for this community was derived from the Mespat Indians who once inhabited it. The first English colony in Queens County was settled here and it remained predominately English until an influx of German immigrants settled the area. DeWitt Clinton one-time mayor of New York City and Governor of New York State lived in the area where he headed the Erie Canal Commission and planned the famous canal. |
