The list of items includes hot and cold appetizers, main courses, kid’s favorites and fresh fruit, pastries and ice cream desserts. Fresh sushi is made up before your eyes and a fresh-from-the-ocean raw bar features boiled shrimp and fresh oysters and clams on the half shell. Have a “crack” at the steamed Alaskan king crab legs to find the sweet, delectable crab meat inside, served with melted butter and lemon.
If you’d like to start with hot appetizers, try the steamed or fried dumplings with dipping sauce or a bowl of won ton, egg drop or hot and sour soup. The barbecued spare ribs are meaty and delicious and you can have as many as you like. I love to munch on the crispy spring rolls and steamed pork buns before I go for the main courses.
Entrees include fish, shrimp and lobster, beef, chicken and pork, all prepared in differing but equally delicious ways. Check out the Mongolian barbecue station, which lets you select your own raw meats, vegetables, noodles and aromatic sauces. Some new items on the Mongolian barbecue menu that we tried were marinated skewers of curried chicken and steak teriyaki. The experienced chef will cook whatever you choose on a large, round grill, quickly stirring all the ingredients together with a wooden stick as you watch. The result is a custom made dinner entrée that you can accompany with any one of the vegetable or rice dishes from the buffet, such as fried rice with roast pork or tiny glass noodles with vegetables.
A variety of fresh, healthy vegetables, including Chinese bok choy, green beans and spinach, will entice even the kids.
Fresh flounder, roast chicken and corn on the cob will satisfy more American palates. Finicky kids will love helping themselves to plenty of chicken nuggets, barbecued wings, sweet and sour chicken, fried shrimp and crispy egg rolls. There are sides of French fries and onion rings for the taking as well.
Choices at the dazzling dessert bar range from healthful fresh fruit to bananas foster, a variety of creamy puddings, Jell-O and an assortment of cakes, cookies and pastries. There’s something to satisfy every sweet tooth. Kids big and small will particularly enjoy the soft ice cream machine where they can make their own sundaes with all their favorite toppings. If you prefer to order at your table, you can choose from King China’s extensive menu selections, as you would in a regular restaurant.
