Home of the National Race Course, East Flushing was renamed Corona, crown in Italian, in 1872 by Benjamin Hitchcock, a major developer.

A community of mostly one and two family homes, it is also the site of Lefrak City a large apartment complex. Corona also lays claim to Flushing Meadow-Corona Park (which sits between two communities), home of two Worlds Fairs, the home of jazz legend Louis Armstrong and the Lemon Ice King, a long-time summer tradition.
