WILMA LOAYZA “It is difficult dealing with the growing problem of graffiti, but we have to put our minds to it. In our neighborhoods, we have to team up and do something about it as she suggests.”

"Queensborough President Helen Marshall has defined graffiti as ugly, municipal garbage. What can we do about it?"
CECILLE O’MARA “Perhaps our parents, aided by teachers can reach the children and teach them that beauty is something to be cherished and that graffiti is something that is ugly and destructive.”
RALPH MORENO “We have get together and work on this serious problem—groups like block associations, churches and other religious groups, the community boards, parents and school teachers. We should all work for the good of our neighborhoods.”
GEORGE WOHLSTADT “The city has to follow her suggestion—we all have to work together on all levels to fight graffiti and clean up. We need to alert police of abuses when they are destroying public property and our neighborhoods. We praise our borough president in her efforts and we all can volunteer to do our part to help.”
PAT KELLY “In our area of Queens I admire the efforts of the beautification group as it does it’s part to set the example for residents and for everyone. The Halloween parade emphasized family pride and it was good to have the borough president lead the way. Graffiti needs to be corrected by all of us.”
LYDIA MEDIO “Graffiti has no place on public and private property. She is right in pursuing construction companies to be accountable even as they are working on their projects. Young people and others who have an artistic bent should find other areas of expression where they can help add beauty to Queens.”
