Get Free Flu Shots

At Boys & Girls Club

Free flu and pneumonia shots will be available at the Variety Boys and Girls Club of Queens, 21-12 30th Rd., Astoria, on Monday, November 10 from 3 to 6 p.m. The inoculation shots are provided by Assemblymember Michael Gianaris. While the shots are free, an appointment is necessary; call Gianaris’ office at 718-545-3889.

Flu shots are recommended for adults and senior citizens 65 years of age and older, persons with chronic lung problems such as asthma or emphysema, heart problems, other chronic diseases such as diabetes or kidney or immunological problems and women who will be in their second or third trimester of pregnancy during flu season.

The pneumonia shot is recommended for all adults 65 years of age and older and anyone with long-term health problems such as heart disease, sickle cell disease, lung disease or diabetes.

Co-sponsors of the program are New York-Presbyterian Hospitals and the Visiting Nurse Service of New York.
