New Summer Hours At The Queens Museum of Art is open Wednesday to Sunday 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. during August. This temporary change takes advantage of summer’s long days, Art Executive Director Tom Finkelpearl said. "We simply want to be open when people are in the park. Right now, we have a great exhibition about an art work by Salvador Dalí, one of the 20th century’s most popular artists, built right here in Flushing Meadows–Corona Park. By staying open during the evening, we hope to introduce more people to the museum and to our exhibitions." The late hours also reflect changes in summer programming, which feature special events on days of annual festivals in the park for which the museum has organized dance performances by emerging choreographers, films, DJs and poets. Open weekend evenings and most weeknights, the museum can be visited after Mets games, performances at Queens Theater in the Park, and the many cultural festivals that take place throughout the summer. The museum is currently open Wednesday through Sunday, 1 to 8 p.m. and closed Monday and Tuesday. Regular hours will resume Sept. 1. For more information, call 718-592-9700. |
