Street Renamed For 9/11 Hero

The intersection of 147th Street and 8th Avenue in Whitestone was recently renamed in honor of deceased Firefighter Michael Carlo. Family and friends attended the ceremony renaming the block "Firefighter Michael Carlo Avenue." Carlo was killed in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center Sept. 11, 2001. City Councilmember Tony Avella (r.) presented the "Firefighter Michael Carlo Avenue" street name sign to the family (l. to r.) Nicole Carlo, sister; Robert Carlo, father; Phyllis Carlo, mother, and Robert Carlo, brother, also a New York City firefighter.
