Regal Heights
Resident Marks 105th

Regal Heights resident Ann Aiken will celebrate her 105th birthday on June 8. Aiken was born the second of nine children in a house where the New York City Port Authority Bus Terminal stands today. For many years she lived on West 87 Street, Manhattan, and eventually moved to Forest Hills in Queens. She never married. She worked as a sales clerk in a clothing store for 34 years and designed and sewed bed jackets for stores and coats for her family during the Depression. Besides sewing, Aiken enjoyed dancing and traveled into Manhattan to the B. Altman Department Store until age 90. Aiken also enjoyed her gin martini every other evening with dinner. Her advice for a long life: "Don’t abuse your life—don’t overeat and don’t overdrink!" Regal Heights Rehabilitation and Health Care Center is located at 70-05 35th Ave., Jackson Heights.
