Edmund Hofmann “In the past, Memorial Day was an event looked forward to all. My birthday is the next day, so I especially, have a couple of days of remembering that many service personnel have been called to protect our nations’ freedom. Many gave their lives and we should always remember them..”

By Rev. Austin H. Armitstead

How will you honor our Veterans on this Memorial Day?

Bill Jones “I remember serving in the Korean War and also remember many people who served our country. Without their service we would not have the freedoms we have today. Servicemen should be remembered, always! I go to church on that day to say thanks.”
Louis Mendez “We should always remember Memorial Day as an important part of our nations’ heritage. As a boy, I remember we had a day off from school and I watched the parade and we decorated the graves with flags.”

Vincent Cavalcante “Many soldiers, sailors and marines through our nations’ history, have been loyal to our nation, even to the point of dying on behalf of all of us. They should always be remembered and we are grateful to those who continue to serve.”
Vincent Cuttitta “I’m an 86-year-old World War II veteran and will march again in our annual memorial Day parade in College Point. It’s a parade which we are proud to hold each year. I’m proud to have been past Commander of the V.F.W. Post 885. Our annual poppy sales are used to remember the needs of veterans.”

tony Giglio “My friend, Tony Divito and I agree that we should remember our war dead at this time of the year. So many veterans in our country’s history answered the call to protect our nation’s freedom. Let’s honor those who served and those who continue to serve.”
