Flag Day Commemorated

On Saturday, May 5, the Flag Committee of Queens held its Seventh Annual Flag Day Ceremony at 39-10 43rd St. The festivities began at 11 a.m. with presentations to the ceremony’s honorees and a memorial service for those who had lost their lives in the line of duty. Ray Melville, Local 3 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Chief Gerard Barbara of the New York City Fire Department, Rear Admiral Joseph Stewart of the United States Merchant Marine Academy and Mario Basquez of Channel 5 Fox News were just some of the individuals honored at this event.—Kellyann Tobin
