Vallone Fundraiser At
On the beautiful evening of May 3, Joe Pistilli’s residence in Bayside was the scene of a major fundraising event on behalf of City Council Speaker Peter Vallone’s campaign for mayor of the city of New York. Nearly $40,000 was raised by the nearly 70 people in attendance. The festivities’ organizers were Joseph and Tony Pistilli, who head the Pistilli Realty Group, located on 28th Avenue in Astoria. Both were pleased by the large turnout at the event as well as the financial success of the evening. As the invitation only letter stated: "You are cordially invited to a cocktail party at my home on Thursday May 3rd from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. We will be honoring our good friend, the Honorable Peter Vallone. We will have the occasion to acknowledge Peter’s efforts to defend and nurture the arts in our city, and we will have the chance to spend time with him where there will be a real opportunity for conversation. "As Speaker of the New York City Council, Peter has served the people of our great city with honor, ability and devotion. Of all his splendid achievements, I most admire his work inside city government as the great champion of the arts and of the cultural institutions that are critical to the vitality of our city. In the last 10 years, he has restored more than $110 million in budget cuts—regularly surrendering a bargaining chip that could have been used to achieve other objectives but he also increased funds from the arts by more than $25 million over the same period. "Of all the candidates running for office, Peter is truly the most moderate, a man with the ability to delegate and control a modern day City Hall which will allow the city to continue to build the future on the present good fortune, which we have all enjoyed.
It was recently reported that Vallone’s poll numbers were on the rise and Vallone may have a slight surge after the recent mayoral debates.
