“I like to support the local library and have contributed many fine history books. I admire the good works of the Jackson Heights Beautification Group that strives to keep community standards high.”

This week’s question:

What organizations or causes do you admire and support?

Madeline Robertaccio
“I support my own church and its activities. Then I do love and recommend the Salvation Army for its unrequited devotion to ‘Soup, Soap and Soul,’ giving out food and clothing to the needy and assisting world-wide emergencies. They always serve with respect and a sincere desire to help.”
Mary Carr
“Although not active now, I support causes that respect the needs of young children and families. I like to see people reach out and not only think of themselves.”

Robert White
“I think of the American Cancer Society, (A.C.S.). Recently we’ve had our attention directed to friends, family and notable people’s health needs in the media. Organizations like the A.C.S. are very helpful in alerting how we can help one another.”
Edmond Hofmann
“My favorite local organization is the Knights of Columbus because we support our church, our country and the community the best we can. We support charitable projects such as food drives at Thanksgiving time and throughout the year. We support the needs of the people and the community.”

Mireille Hug
“I enjoy working with the Girl Scouts as a volunteer. Growing up today in our modern society as a young girl is not easy. It’s nice to see them gaining in confidence that will help them make good decisions in a complex world. Where they travel they’ll find lessons they learned as Scouts that will help.”
